April is Move Your Money Month – a great time to remember that our economic choices matter. There are always consequences to our financial actions, and we can choose those that net more positive local returns. Moving your money locally keeps your money moving, because of the multiplier effect.
This April, we’re celebrating in two ways:
- Join our Move Your Money 30-Day Challenge. Each morning during the month of April, you will receive via your email a curated prompt. This may be a reading, a video, or a mini-challenge for you to take on that day. You tell us how many challenges you complete. If you complete 20 of the 30 challenges, you’re entered into a raffle to win one of three gift cards. If you complete 27 of the challenges, you receive a digital badge. For those who sign up for the 30-Day Challenge, every Friday we’ll host a meet-up – two virtual and two in-person – to share reflections, ideas, and lessons learned.
- We’ve got yard signs! Help us spread the word about the importance of moving your money local. We want a sign in every city and town in Rhode Island. Would you be willing to host? Let us know.
4 ways to move your money
Thinking locally is about investing in your community as a whole. That starts with where your dollars are deposited; choosing a local bank is one of the easiest ways to support our local economy. It includes spending your dollars at local, independently-owned businesses. And now it means investing in local ventures that bring financial and community returns.
